Attitudes and Expectations Toward Analytic Psychotherapy
Purpose of the Study
This study by the Centre for Psychoanalytic Studies (CPS) investigates the attitudes and expectations of adults toward analytic psychotherapy. In particular, it examines how people perceive the therapeutic process, its duration and frequency, the stability of the therapeutic frame, and the possibility of exploring recurring emotional and interpersonal difficulties.
Who Can Participate
Adults aged 18 and over are eligible to participate, regardless of whether they have prior experience of psychotherapy. It is not necessary to be in psychotherapy or to be seeking therapy at this time.
What Participation Involves
Participation involves completing a brief questionnaire about the participant's perceptions, expectations, and attitudes toward different aspects of analytic psychotherapy. Participation is voluntary and may be discontinued at any time prior to submission of responses.
Questionnaire
The questionnaire comprises 19 multiple-choice questions. There are no right or wrong answers. Participants are asked to select the response that best describes their own attitude at this time. The questionnaire is not a psychometric or diagnostic test, and its results are not used for the automated assessment of a person's suitability for psychotherapy.
Data Protection
No name is required to participate in the study. At the end of the questionnaire, participants may optionally provide their email address if they wish to be informed of the results of this study and/or future research activities of the CPS. Providing an email address is optional and is not a condition of participation. The option to receive information about this study and the option to receive information about future research activities are provided separately.
