Welcome to CPS (Centre for Psychoanalytic Studies).
My name is Michalis Paterakis.
I studied Psychology at the Centre for Humanistic Studies and Research and continued my education at the University of Indianapolis (USA), where I obtained a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Psychology. I then pursued further studies in Counselling and Psychotherapy at Middlesex University (UK).
Throughout my academic and professional development, I devoted particular attention to psychoanalytic theory, a field that continues to be the focus of my work today. Psychoanalysis is based on the understanding of unconscious processes and aims to help individuals develop a deeper awareness of themselves. It offers not only insight into the way the mind functions but also facilitates meaningful psychological change through the exploration of internalised relationship patterns established during the earliest years of life.
Having undergone many years of psychoanalytic psychotherapy myself, I founded the Centre for Psychoanalytic Studies (CPS) to promote education in psychoanalytic theory, with particular emphasis on the scientific perspective of Object Relations Theory.
Whether you are a mental health professional wishing to deepen your knowledge of psychoanalytic theory, or an individual seeking a better understanding of your own inner world through psychoanalytic exploration, CPS is dedicated to supporting your journey.
Mental health professionals may apply to join the training programmes. Individuals seeking psychoanalytic psychotherapy may be referred to an appropriately qualified mental health professional best suited to their needs. CPS collaborates with psychologists, psychiatrists, psychotherapists and mental health counsellors who meet the professional requirements established by Greek legislation, are trained in psychoanalytic theory, and are committed to providing high-quality clinical care.
